Six Sigma is a business improvement methodology that focuses on the following:
- Understanding your customers, their requirements and needs.
- Measuring how well the customer’s requirements and needs are being satisfied.
- Using data to solve problems.
- Striving to improve processes to a nearly perfect level (6 Sigma as a statistic means 3.4 defects per million opportunities for a defect to occur).
- Following a methodology of “Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control” with different tools that are chosen by the Six Sigma professional to achieve breakthrough results.
Six Sigma professionals are defined by different colored “belts” that show the level of training and expertise – Jen Morrison has achieved the highest level Six Sigma so is called a “Black Belt" or Master Black Belt. The belt colors in order are White, Yellow, Green, Black.
